Mogadishu (News) The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Chaired Somalia–EU Partnership Summit with Ambassador of the European Union delegation in Somalia, with whom he discussed the strategic cooperation between Somalia and the European Union in Halane Camp, Mogadishu.
The President thanked the European Union for their important role in rebuilding government institutions, supporting the federal system and supporting the Somali people, especially during difficult times.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud pointed out the government’s plans for reconciliation, strengthening good governance and the development of the democratic system based on direct elections, and presented the arrangements for holding national consultations and measures to stabilize Somalia’s politics.
The President emphasized that the Federal Government of Somalia is committed to strengthening international cooperation, to ensure a better future, unity, and development of the Somali people.
The European Union represented by the EU Ambassador Karin Johansson expressed his commitment to supporting Somalia, and praised the efforts of the Federal Government in building a government and implementing the reforms necessary for sustainable development.
The delegation indicated that the European Union will continue its role to ensure Somalia political stability and social development.
The meeting was concluded with a consensus on the strengthening of cooperation between the two sides and the commitment to continue supporting the issues that are important for the development of Somalia.
The president and the delegation of the European Union agreed that continuous cooperation is the key to Somalia’s success in the fields of security, politics and economy.
The President of Somalia is accompanied by the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and other members of his Government.
The European Union ambassador to Somalia was accompanied by diplomats from the European Countries.
