The President of Somaliland received Ambassador Louise Hancock, newly appointed Head of the British Government office in Hargeisa.

Hargeisa (Hornpost.net / .com)  The President of the Republic of Somaliland Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro) held a meeting at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Somaliland with the outgoing head of the British Government Office in Hargeisa Mr. Ilyas Malek and the newly appointed head of the same office Mrs. Louise Hancock accompanied by other officials.

The purpose of this meeting was to further strengthen the traditional relationship between the two countries and to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries of Somaliland and England.

The outgoing head of the British Office in Somaliland, Mr Ilyas Malek, introduced the President to the new Head and Deputy Head of the British Office in Somaliland.

Mr Ilyas thanked the President for welcoming and praised the peace efforts of his government initiating towards eastern regions of Somaliland.

Mr. Ilyas congratulated Somaliland for its continued commitment to the implementation of the democratic process, and emphasized the importance of consulting everyone to resolve the tensions in the region.

The two sides discussed several points as confirmed by the Presidency of Somaliland:

  1. Strengthening Mutual Relations
  2. Economic Cooperation and Investment
  3. State Security and Stability
  4. Exchange of Higher Education and Education
  5. Government Support and Community Development

British Office operators in Somaliland have expressed interest in exploring investment opportunities in trade, renewable energy, and technology, which are critical to Somaliland’s economic growth vision.

The meeting ended in a good atmosphere, as both sides expressed hope for the future of the relationship between Somaliland and the Government of the United Kingdom.

It was jointly promised to work closely together on the priority issues of Somaliland and the region, and how to pave the way for strong and beneficial cooperation between the two sides, and how to promote the development and international status of Somaliland.
