Hargeisa (Hornpost.com) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Cirro and a delegation he led on a working trip to the city of Berbera, laid the foundation stone today for the Berbera Coastal City Electricity Expansion and Improvement Project.
The President’s visit to the coastal city of Berbera was a milestone in the development of the Sahil Region and the development of social infrastructure in the city of Berbera.
The groundbreaking ceremony for this important project for the community was attended by various other officials and the Sahil Region administration, traditional leaders and many other distinguished guests.
The Berbera City Electricity Expansion and Improvement Project is supported by the World Bank in Somaliland, and will cost twenty million dollars ($20 million), and this project will be a significant contribution to the development of electricity in the city of Berbera.
First, the Mayor of Berbera and the Governor of Sahil Region spoke, saying that this project will greatly contribute to the city’s electricity needs, as Berbers will soon receive cheap and quality electricity.
They said that the government is giving special priority to the economic development of the city of Berbera, and they congratulated President JSL on the implementation of this important project for the community, as he is fulfilling his campaign promise that Berberi will receive cheap and quality electricity.
The Minister of Mines and Energy also spoke there and gave details about the project and said that this project is to expand and improve the electricity supply in the city of Berbera, he said that this project includes 12MW solar and 36MW storage, noting that the promise of the President of the Somaliland is being fulfilled.
On the other hand, the President of the Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Cirro, officially launched this project to improve and expand the electricity supply in the city of Berbera, he gave a brief speech, welcoming the people of Berbera,
“We do not want our campaign to be false, we campaigned that we will not break the Berbera electricity tariff and make it 0.20%, so as a government today we have decided that next week we will break the Berbera electricity tariff and make it 0.20 usd
