Mogadishu (Hornpost.com) The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Abu Dhabi hosted a meeting of African ambassadors on Saturday (March 15) to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming Africa Day celebrations on May 25, providing a platform for discussions on strengthening regional cooperation and reaffirming the shared commitment to African unity and progress.
During the discussions, the Somalia Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Hussein Abdi Halane, reaffirmed Somalia’s dedication to African solidarity, highlighting its role as a founding member of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU), while also underscoring the country’s commitment to representing Africa’s interests within the United Nations Security Council.
Africa Day, observed annually on May 25, commemorates the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, marking a historic milestone in the pursuit of continental unity, cooperation, and development.
