Somaliland President Attends Timacadde University 13th Graduation in Gabiley and Launched $20 Million Agricultural Investment Project in Wajaale Valley

Gabiley (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), today attended the 13th Graduation Ceremony of Timacadde University in Gabiley city, where he congratulated the graduating students, their parents, teachers, and the university administration.

Timacadde University, a public institution, this year graduated more than 800 students from its campuses in Gabiley, Wajaale, and Hargeisa.

In his keynote speech at the graduation ceremony, the President highlighted the vital role of education in nation-building and social development, stressing that the future of Somaliland depends on the integrity, knowledge, and skills of the new generation.

During his presence at the graduation ceremony in Gabiley, the President announced several major development projects to be implemented in the city, aimed at improving and expanding public services that will enhance the lives, economy, and overall development of the Gabiley region.

The projects announced by the President in Gabiley include:

Expansion of Gabiley’s freshwater supply. Notably, within the short period of this administration, 4 wells have been completed, with 2 new wells to be added immediately and connected to the city’s water distribution system – providing fresh water to the city for the first time in over 30 years.

 

  1. Establishment of an oxygen plant at Gabiley General Hospital – also a first for the city.
  2. An agricultural investment project in Wajaale Valley, with funding of up to 20 million US dollars.
  3. Completion of the Arabsiyo–Allaybaday road levelling, with full construction planned in the future.
  4. Construction of the main hall of Timacadde University in Gabiley, which has been incomplete for more than 4 years.
  5. Construction of a modern football stadium in Gabiley.
  6. Reduction of electricity prices in Gabiley to $0.59 per kWh, effective from November 1, 2025.
  7. Establishment of an Agricultural Research Centre at Timacadde University, for which the government will seek funding.
  8. Acceleration of the process of granting Gabiley full regional status.

The people of Gabiley warmly welcomed these development projects announced by President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi, describing them as a step that reflects the vision and commitment of the President and his government towards the progress and development of the Gabiley community.
