Hargeisa (Hornpost) The KAAH Party warns against the drums of war being beaten to ignite conflicts in the eastern regions of Somaliland, a move that will not remain confined but will undermine the stability and peace of the entire region.
In a press statement issued by the Party’s Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Barkhad M. Kariye, it was noted that this plan is being pushed by the fragile administration in Mogadishu together with foreign allies whose objective is to spread instability across the region.
Read the Press Released:
“The Republic of Somaliland has always been a beacon of peace and stability in a volatile region. Our people, together with their successive governments over the past decades, have demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to maintaining stability, an achievement that has contributed significantly to both international and regional peace. However, this peace was challenged in couple of years ago in Lasanod, eastern Sool region, when different internal and external forces carried out attacks resulting in avoidable casualties.
Recently, new war provocations have emerged from eastern part of Sool region, led by Somalia. The main goal of Somalia’s weak administration along with some of their foreign allies is to destabilize Somaliland and the wider Horn of Africa. Their actions threaten to expand a conflict and proxy wars throughout Somaliland and beyond.
Due to the complex clan dynamics in these regions, we, The KAAH Party, the leading political opposition party in the Republic of Somaliland, view these actions by Somalia and their allies as deliberate aggression, reckless provocations and irresponsible measures that endanger lives, undermine stability and erode the foundations of peace.
We stand united against every attempt to provoke a war or commit aggression against the Republic of Somaliland. More importantly, we call upon all nations, organization and concerned friends of peace and democracy; now is the time to act against Somalia’s provocative actions to destabilize the Horn of Africa.
