Hargeisa (Hornpost) The Government of the Republic of Somaliland has officially responded to an appeal made by the residents of Hadaaftimo, in the eastern part of Sanag region of Somaliland, who had been complaining about a severe water shortage in the area caused by recurring droughts.

The community had requested the Somaliland government to drill a borehole (rig) in the area as a sustainable solution to the water crisis, which has affected the livelihoods, education, and health of the local people.

The government’s response, centered on action and cooperation, is proof that the voices of Somaliland’s civil society are being genuinely heard, and that efforts are being made to address the basic needs of the people.

This demonstrates how legitimate public appeals can swiftly reach the highest levels of the government and become a pathway for improving essential social services.

The government’s reaction to the call from the people of Hadaaftimo highlights its leadership strategy based on listening and responding to citizens’ needs, encouraging civil society to actively participate in the development of both their communities and the nation at large.

This is a step that fosters collaboration between the people and the government, serving as a key to sustainable development and social stability.

Finally, the traditional elders who spoke at the event expressed their gratitude to the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Cirro, for responding to their appeal regarding the water needs of the area. They also thanked the Minister from that region, Siciid Mohamed Buraale, as well as the Minister of Investment and Industry of the Republic of Somaliland, who played a major role in addressing the needs of those communities on behalf of the government.
