Hargeisa (Hornpost) Taiwan responds to China, Taiwan says China’s claims of Taiwan territory and country is false. “Response to false claims made by Chinese Embassy in Somalia”

Taiwan has responded to a report from the Chinese Embassy in Somalia that it opposed the Coastal Agreement between Somaliland and Taiwan.

The Taiwan Office in Hargeisa issued this press release in response, read the press release here:

TAIWAN REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE IN THE REPUBLIC OF SOMALILAND Sha’ab Area, Hargeisa, Somaliland

Response to false claims made by Chinese Embassy in Somalia

The recently signed Taiwan-Somaliland Coast Guard Agreement complements with the official visit led by Somaliland Foreign Minister H.E. Abdirahman Dahir Adam aims to open a new chapter in maritime security collaboration. This multilateral platform helps pursue the strategic goal of a Non-Red Somaliland Coastline for the foundation of a Blue Economy, and Taiwan stands ready to further coordinate with USA, UK, EU and other regional partners when it comes to maintaining stability and rule- based international order in the Horn of Africa.

Instead of resorting to hostile rhetoric and cognitive warfare aiming to destabilize the region, The Taiwan Representative Office in the Republic of Somaliland urges Chinese Embassy in Somalia to stop its bullying acts and truly uphold the values of peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

The fact is that neither Taiwan nor China is subordinate to the other, and People’s Republic of China (PRC) has NEVER governed Taiwan for a second. This fact stands no matter how hard PRC is trying to claim any historical credit prior to its establishment in 1949. Taiwan is a sovereign nation, in no way subject to China or its Beijing regime.

China’s attempts to block Taiwan and Somaliland’s unacceptable international cooperation

Moreover, the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 is limited to addressing the issue of Chinese representation at the UN, and should not be falsely conflated with Beijing’s so called “One China Principle” used to exert its false claim over Taiwan. The resolution NEVER mentioned Taiwan nor did it state that Taiwan is a part of the PRC. Only the democratically-elected government of Taiwan has the right to represent the Taiwanese people. The G7 countries had also repeatedly voiced their opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo of the Taiwan Strait whether by force or by coercion.

This Office categorically rejects China’s false claims of territorial sovereignty that completely distort the fundamental truth.
