The government of Somaliland has arrested journalist Abdirisaaq Qasim from the media operating in the Sahel region for the second day at the Hargeisa Criminal Investigation Center (CID).

We are calling on the government of Somaliland to restore the freedom of the imprisoned journalists, and the judiciary should speed up the trial of their cases where they will be imprisoned from time to time.

Finally, the Somaliland Journalists’ Association in Solja has appointed lawyers to defend them during the trial.
