And the government has criticized the baseless claim of the Mogadishu administration, which claims the Republic of Somaliland in a legal or historical manner.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Somaliland was an independent nation that gained its independence from Britain on June 26, 1960, and was recognized by 35 countries.
The government of Somaliland also stated that the union with Somaliland in 1960 was not approved by Somalia and the people of Somaliland rejected it in a referendum in 1961. She noted that this was the result of the massacre of the people of Somaliland, which led Somaliland to regain its independence in 1991.
The government of Somaliland has condemned a map published by the BBC that makes the Republic of Somaliland a part of Somalia. And it highlighted that these maps harm the independence of the Republic of Somaliland.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the BBC as it is an international media to maintain the security of the news.
The BBC also urged them to remove those maps from their media, correct them and to ensure the independence of the borders of the Republic of Somaliland.
