Today’s meeting followed the regular meetings of members of the International Community with civil society, opposition groups, government officials as well as the 2021-2022 Presidential Candidates Council.
Discussions at the Somali Rescue Forum and members of the international community have focused on their support for inclusive dialogue and underscored the urgent need for Somali leaders to unite on important topics such as security, politics and development to make Somalia better enable it to move forward and care for its people.
C6+ are referred to (Ethiopia, Italy, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)
Somali Opposition Politicians
On the other hand, the Somali opposition, which has united in the Somalia Salvation Forum, which includes former Prime Minister of President Farmajo’s government Hasan Ali Khayre and former Prime Minister Mohamed Husen Rooble, as well as former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, politicians who have held various positions in Somalia.
They described their meeting with the leaders of the international community and the United Nations in Mogadishu as their regular meetings to discuss the situation in the country.
In a brief statement, they said: “The Somalia Salvation Forum, which is in the midst of its regular meetings, met today with stakeholders from the international community in Mogadishu.
The parties focused on finding a solution to the political chaos in the country, especially issues related to the unilateral elections that the leaders of the Federal Government are pushing back.”
