Addis Ababa, (Hornpost) – A delegation from the National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Somaliland (SNEC), led by Commissioner Hussein Abdi Ali (Badhani), together with the Acting Director General of the National Electoral Commission, Mr. Dr. Zakariye Badde, and the Director of Voter Records and Technology, Mr. Omar Tani, participated in the ID4Africa 2025 International Conference, which was held this year in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.
The meeting was officially opened by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Mr. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, brought together senior leaders, experts, technology companies, and international organizations from around the world, who work in the areas of management and data storage, public registration, digital security, and modern government services.
The participation of the National Electoral Commission in this important meeting was strengthening Somaliland’s role in the development of modern electoral systems, especially the use of IRIS Biometric technology for voter registration. This meeting became an opportunity for the National Electoral Commission to meet with experts, organizations and international companies working with many African countries who at the same time share the experience and implementation of modern electoral systems.
During the meeting, the members of the National Electoral Commission held important meetings to exchange information and experience with the technology community and registration management in Africa and other parts of the world. It was also discussed the strengthening of African cooperation based on innovation and trust in systems to register citizens, which are the basis for efficient, transparent, and free elections.
The participation of the National Electoral Commission ID4Africa 2025 shows once again how Somaliland is committed to the development of elections and the implementation of modern methods to ensure the confidence of the voter and the electoral institutions.
