Hargeisa (Hornpost) The Republic of Somaliland strongly responded to the statement issued by the weak government of Somalia on April 22, 2025, which stated that it has banned travel documents from Taiwan and claims baseless rights on the airspace of the Republic of Somaliland.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland, the Republic of Somaliland, has described as insulting and a great offense the untrue claims made by the weak government of Somalia, which undermine the general principles of harmony and stability.
This was stated in a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somaliland, and it was said in the press release “Such claims are baseless and represent a direct violation of the principles of peaceful coexistence and stability in the region. The Republic of Somaliland is an independent nation with full control over its airspace and borders. The government of Somalia does not have a law or administrative power within the Republic of Somaliland, and its statement has no effect on the Republic of Somaliland.
Somaliland’s bilateral relations, including those with the Republic of Taiwan, are based on mutual respect and are implemented in accordance with international diplomatic rules. Any action that tries to disrupt or describe the foreign policy election of the Republic of Somaliland as another feature is unacceptable.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates Somaliland’s unwavering commitment to peace, cooperation, and international participation in construction, and calls on all parties to respect the independence and borders of the Republic of Somaliland.”
