Hargeisa (Hornpost) Somaliland’s Minister of Internal Affairs and Security Abdale Mohamed Arab, Somaliland’s Minister of the Presidency Khadar Hussein Abdi, King Osman Bur Madow and other officials bid farewell to 15 prisoners released by Somaliland from Hargeisa prison at Hargeisa airport.
The exchanged prisoners were 11 prisoners who left Hargeisa and arrived in Garowe, accompanied by Puntland officials including Abdi Hirsi Qarjab, while 15 prisoners were deported from Garowe, who arrived in Hargeisa with accompanied by King Osman Burmadow.
The Minister of Justice of Puntland, Mohamed Abdiwahab, told the media how the release of the prisoners took place on their side.
‘We released 15 prisoners that we handed over to Somaliland, and they handed over 11 of them, and it is a good thing that has been taken in terms of security and cooperation and social cooperation”.
This move will enhance the security and stability of the region as the Republic of Somaliland and the Punland Government of Somalia have worked together to exchange prisoners captured in the 2023 Lasanod War.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Iro, when he came to office, announced unconditional peace by appointing the Somaliland Peace Committee, who are currently on a peace tour in Jigjiga, the capital of the Somali Regional Government of Ethiopia.
