Hargeisa (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro, today attended the Conference on the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises in Somaliland.
The conference held at the Ambassador Hotel was organized by the Ministry of Trade and Tourism.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro, who delivered a multi-faceted speech at the conference, underlined that the Government of Unity and Action is committed to putting more effort into strengthening the country’s economy, and that development should be one that all economic aspects are compatible.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland while talking about the importance of small and medium businesses to the nation said “The small and medium businesses of the country have made significant progress during the existence of this nation. Today we are the backbone of Somaliland’s economy. They have a significant share in the sources of the general budget of the Republic of Somaliland, and the budget of the districts.”
The President of the Republic of Somaliland pointed out that there are many challenges that cannot be underestimated in front of middle and lower class businessmen in the country. These challenges include finding financing and credit opportunities that are difficult, the business management system and laws that sometimes become a control for small and medium businesses.
The President said that as a Government these challenges will be addressed, and he said, “We believe that business is the way to the development and development of the country, so we will review and remove any obstacles that may delay the creation of small and medium businesses.”
President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi said that he hopes that this National Conference will produce a result that reflects the slogan chosen for this forum, which is to find the ideas to create politics, knowledge and finance to strengthen small and medium businesses. of the Republic of Somaliland to face the challenges ahead.
Finally, the President of the Republic of Somaliland instructed the Ministry of Trade and Tourism and other organizations related to business issues to increase public awareness in which citizens are reminded to practically and technically have a culture of investment and entrepreneurship.
The general purpose of the Small and Medium Business Development Conference was:
- As a nation, it should be clearly recognized the importance of the economic growth of our people for the development of small and medium businesses.
- To scientifically study the various challenges faced by small and medium businesses.
- Connecting people who come up with entrepreneurs, consulting organizations, and investment organizations.
