Hargeisa (Horn Post) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilaahi (Cirro), today attended the Opening of the National Cultural Conference of the Republic of Somaliland held at the Mansoor Hotel, which will last for two days.
This conference, which was the first Cultural Conference of its kind to be held in Somaliland, was esteemedly organized by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Awareness of the Republic of Somaliland, headed by Sheikh Ahmed-Yasiin Sheikh Ali Ayaanle.
The Somaliland Cultural Conference is a Conference that focuses on and discusses the Lifestyle of Somaliland Society in general, especially issues of importance and priority for the people of the Republic of Somaliland in terms of Culture, Heritage, Language, Creativity, Literature and Fine Arts. Specifically, the National Cultural Conference will focus on nine themes:
- The Importance of Culture and Heritage.
- Marriage and Culture.
- Tribalism and Discrimination.
- Modernity and the Influence of Culture.
- Knowledge and Culture.
- Language and Literature.
- Livestock, Agriculture and Soria.
- Child Rearing and Culture.
- Politics and Culture.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro, gave a historic speech at the forum that touches on many aspects. The President declared that this Cultural Conference gives us a full picture of the best way to develop and benefit from our rich culture in the future.
The President of Somaliland while talking about the relationship between culture and the existence of society said “Culture is the spirit of the existence of society. It is the basis of genealogy and the image of the nation. It is the thread that we sew in our previous generations, so that we do not divide. It is the guide that guides us in our values, our behavior and our religion.”
Also, the President of the Republic of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro while talking about the originality of our Rich Culture said “Our culture is a native camp culture that is not imported from outside like some communities. It is a tradition that tells the history of our pastoral life, our Islamic faith, and the stories embedded in our heritage that reflects the thousands of years that we have come from our ancestors.”
The President while talking about the honor and dignity of our culture said “Our culture is a culture known for its respectability, good manners, and deep knowledge, whose vessel was our language, especially the poems that our ancestors kept for us, which is one of the main reasons why the richness of our language did not enter.”
President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi said that he expects a good result from the Cultural Conference, so that it will be the beginning of the change that we as a nation are strengthening, protecting, and showing our culture, and preventing it from being lost in our next generations.
The Somaliland Cultural Conference was attended by Somaliland poets, the Mayor of Hargeisa, members of the Somaliland Council of Ministers and other officials who gave different speeches at the conference.
During the event, theaters depicting Somaliland culture were presented.
