Hargeisa (Hornpost) the Puntland forces of Somalia, who carried out a large-scale operation in the Miirale Valley yesterday afternoon, said that they have achieved success.

A brief news release from the Puntland administration of Somalia has confirmed that the Daesh fighters in the area were killed in a clash, which was the deadliest between the Puntland and Daesh forces since February.

“Allahu Akbar, the Puntland government forces, which carried out an operation today in the area of Togga Mirale well, killed terrorists who were hiding in Mirale, by removing them from the caves. The completion of phase 3 of the operation” was said in this news and published on the website of the Puntland Ministry of Security.

The Minister of Information of Puntland of Somalia, Mohamud Eydid Dirir, who spoke to the media, said that they have been exploring the Mirale stream for some time and have now occupied some parts of it.

“For a while, the army has been exploring the roads leading to the Mirale river area, they have been digging for a long time, so yesterday there was a fight and they reached the holes where they were sheltering the army and they fought and removed them,” said Minister Eydid.

The minister on the other hand said that at midnight last night Daesh attacked the Puntland forces.

“They tried to attack the army and blow themselves up in the middle of the night, all of them were killed by those who attacked,” he added.

The Minister of Information, Mohamud Eydid Dirir, noted that there are still places left in the Mirale stream for Daesh and the operation is still ongoing.

“Most of that data has been removed from many places where they have bases, most of the wells have been removed and a small number remain in their hands,” said Mr Eydid.

The Puntland forces of Somalia have captured the Miirale valley, which is important for the traffic in the mountains of Al-Alamikad, where the Puntland forces and the Daesh terrorist group fighting in Somalia, known as ISIS, are fighting.

There are many drinking water wells and high mountains in the Mirale Valley that can be used as shelters and fortifications.

The Minister of Information, Mohamud Eydid Dirir, the Puntland administration in Somalia, speaking about the importance of the valley, said that they see it as a place with a special strategy. He said

“The importance of the war is a long stream with a long distance of mountains surrounded by water on all sides” said Mr Eydid.

He added that this road has fortifications and large cliffs that are difficult to enter.

“There are also a large number of trenches in the trenches, it is the place where they gathered and they used to conduct training and train and it was the most important base where they live” said the Minister of Information of Puntland.

In the remote mountains of the region in the north-east of Somalia in Puntland, there has been a war between the forces of that region and the fighters of the Daesh organization for months.

According to Puntland authorities and news broadcast by the US government, many of the fighters have been killed since the start of the operation called ‘Hilaac’.

The dead are said to be foreign fighters. Leaders were also reported to have died during the operations.
