Hargeisa (Hornpost.com) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Cirro, has responded for the first time to a written letter sent by Somali President Hassan Sheikh to the United States Government, in which he claims control of the Port of Berbera.
Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Cirro called the statement ridiculous and clarified that Somaliland controls its land, airspace and seas. “It is strange and ridiculous that the news in the media about the Somali president being unable to govern Mogadishu, and yet the news that he is trading in the Port of Berbera and the Berbera Airport was written in a letter to the President of the United States. I am telling the international community, the President of the United States and the Somali people wherever they are and the whole world that Somaliland controls its land, seas and airspace. Somaliland is an independent country and one of the future states in the world, God willing.”
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Cirro, continued his speech, warning that the statement of the Somali President could harm peace in the Horn of Africa region. And continued,“Somaliland considers the statement made by the leader, who is not enough to ensure peace in Mogadishu, and now claims Berbera as a statement that could harm peace in the region, stability in the region. We warn that this is a matter of misdirection, and the international community itself, knowing this, responded by not ruling Mogadishu, let alone claiming Berbera elsewhere,” said President Cirro, speaking directly to the state media.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Cirro, assured the international community and Somalis that Somaliland is an independent country that will be one of the future states of the world, saying that “Somaliland is an independent country that gained independence from the British government on June 26, 1960, and regained its independence on May 18, 1991. This issue was further strengthened by the national referendum that the world was aware of, in which 97% of the people of Somaliland decided not to be part of Somalia. Somaliland ruled its own country and territory, so its decision is up to it. It has an elected government that represents the country. I am telling the international community, even though they and the Somali people know, that Hassan Sheikh is not the President of Somaliland. He is in charge of Mogadishu. Mogadishu is not enough, and we are aware of its situation.”
The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, continued his speech, saying that the fate of Somaliland is decided by him as the elected President and the people of Somaliland by stating, “Whoever Somaliland wants to do business with, have relations with or needs from, the decision is made by the people of Somaliland and its government, and I am the elected President. The position of Somaliland is that, apart from God, there is no one else to separate from, no one else to negotiate with, no one else to trade with, no one else to broker with, no one else to go to. To my people, I say to the words of the old man who has suffered a lot, let nothing disturbed us, Eid Mubarak.”
On the other hand, the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilaahi Cirro, sent his congratulations to the people of Somaliland on the occasion of Eid and also sent his congratulations to the delegation of the Vice President of Somaliland, Mohamed Aw Ali Abdi, who is engaged in the nationalization of the civil forces in the eastern regions of Somaliland. Also The President commended the committee working on security in the Elafweyn district of Sanag region.
